SouthSide Arts District Assistant Manager – Full Time
OVERALL DESCRIPTION:
The SouthSide Arts District is a downtown revitalization program organized by BEDCO. The goal is to work to improve the economic conditions for the businesses and institutions located in the core business district of South Bethlehem. The SouthSide Assistant Manager will work in collaboration and to support the SouthSide Arts District Manager in these revitalization efforts for the downtown businesses and arts district.
The Assistant Manager will play a vital role in helping business owners, community groups, residents and partner organizations be a part of the revitalization of South Bethlehem. The ideal candidate should feel equally comfortable in an office environment, working out in the community, as well as running and participating in high profile public event.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, systemic thinker who understands that a lot of smaller, specific tasks are required to achieve big-picture goals. They should be enthusiastic about tackling tasks, big or small.
JOB DUTIES:
- Main Street Committee Champion
- Attendance at all Committee Meetings
- Agenda Creation
- Documentation of Meeting Minutes
- Committee Administrative Duties & Specific Task Executions
- Committee Budget Work
- Assist with Strategic Plan Creation
- Interactions with Lehigh University Student Meetings & Event Assistance
- Social Media Management in cooperation with the Manager
- Website Management in cooperation with the Manager
- Presence at all SSAD produced events to assist the Manager and execute the event
- Monthly Constant Contact Newsletter creation
- Special Newsletter creation (occasionally)
- Marketing Material distribution
- Proofreading/Editing
- Communication with City of Bethlehem Permit Office & Recreation Office
- Communication with Business District Merchants and Non-profit partners
- Corporate Funding & Grant Research
- Assist with scheduling Partnership Meetings
- Attendance at various organization committee meetings with/without Manager
- Various Administrative Duties
- Attendance at various trainings to improve your Main Street, Marketing, and Web Skills

- Communication – Verbal and written, interpersonal and public. Strategic and systematic organizing and planning. Multi-tasking. Being an outgoing, positive and thoughtful person
- Problem solver and quick thinker
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly
- Ability to learn quickly the City of Bethlehem and/or Lehigh Valley, municipalities or community organizations
- Experience in urban revitalization
- Grant writing
- Non-profit experience
- Marketing and Advertising experience
- Volunteer management or community organization experience
