Easton Main Street Initiative

This is why Easton is great!

The Easton Main Street Initiative, a subsidiary of Greater Easton Development Partnership, was awarded Pennsylvania’s top performing program for the 2016 year. The organization also won this award in 2008 and 2015.

Easton’s organization was one of 11 winners recognized at Pennsylvania’s Downtown Center in Harrisburg in June during the organization’s 30th Anniversary Gala in Harrisburg.

Pennsylvania Downtown Center evaluates more than 40 organizations, looking for programs that generated new jobs, businesses, public and private investment and volunteer involvement.

“It’s all based on the statistics we keep for the state that are part of our record-keeping data for the state,” said Kim Kmetz, Main Street manager. “It’s hard [for other towns] to compete with Easton because we have a large downtown area. Some districts don’t track their data to the detail that we do.”

But by keeping close relationships with business and property owners, and working with the codes department and city officials, Kmetz said she is able to help Easton make a coordinated effort with its revitalization.
