Blighted property is a problem for most of Pennsylvania’s older communities. Who should, and how to deal with these problem properties is always an issue. Keystone CORE Services (KCS), the non-profit, real estate intervention subsidiary of the Pennsylvania Downtown Center (PDC) will be holding an educational seminar for local community development organizations, redevelopment authorities, planning commissions and municipal governing bodies to try to address some of these issues in order to advance local blight mitigation efforts.
The seminar will be using a recently completed Planning-Activated Communities Property Inventory completed by PA DCED Governor’s Center for Local Government Services for the Sunbury business district as the basis for this educational session. The two-hour session will address the powers of the various organizational players and the interactions that may, should and/or must occur between them. Particular emphasis will be placed on the Pennsylvania Urban Redevelopment Law and the Eminent Domain Code. Any designated Blueprint Communities, Main Street, or Elm Street are invited and encouraged to attend.
The session will be held in person on Monday, August 17 at 6:00 PM at the Albright Center in Sunbury, PA.
